The CEO check-in I almost skipped (and why you shouldn’t)

I’ve been in the weeds lately. Lots happening. Many moving parts.

I caught myself doing things just to tick the box.

At the start of Q2, I sat down with my annual plan. Gave it a good look. Spotted a few things that needed adjusting, nothing major, just slight shifts. But I didn’t make the changes in writing!

And now, here we are… mid-May.

And honestly?

I can feel it … I’m drifting a bit.

Still doing the work, but not feeling fully anchored.

It reminded me of something I tell my clients all the time: Plans are only powerful if they stay connected to where you are right now.

So today’s note is part reminder, part invitation, to check in, before you drift too far off course.

🧠 THINK:

It’s easy to assume that once your annual plan is set, you just need to stick to it.

The truth is, a plan that doesn’t evolve becomes a liability, not a leadership tool.

When you don’t regularly check in, you waste time and energy solving the wrong problems.

You stay busy, but you stop making meaningful progress.

Your plan isn’t set-and-forget.

It should work with you—not against you—as your business shifts and grows.

💡 DO:

Find 45–60 minutes this week. No meetings. No interruptions. Just you and your business.

Open up your annual plan.

Ask yourself:

  • What’s still on track?
  • What feels off, outdated, or irrelevant?
  • Where am I spending time that’s not delivering results?
  • What’s no longer aligned with where I’m heading?

Then make the tweaks — on paper!

Bring your annual plan back to eye level, so you can lead with clarity and intention.

🚀 HAVE:

When you pause to check in, you stop the drift before it becomes derailment.

You shift from scattered effort to focused action. You stop reacting and start leading.

That’s when progress feels intentional. That’s when momentum builds. That’s when you show up as the CEO your business needs.

Ready to get clear?

If you’ve been feeling a bit off-course lately…

If you know something’s not quite clicking but you can’t put your finger on it.

That’s your cue.

You don’t need a full reset. You need a strategic check-in.

A space to step out of the weeds, look at what’s really going on, and make grounded decisions about what’s next.

That’s exactly what we do inside Pulse Coaching.

It’s a monthly 1:1 coaching rhythm designed to help you:

✔️ Spot the friction points

✔️ Clarify what’s working (and what’s not)

✔️ Adjust your annual plan so it reflects where you are right now

You’ll walk away with insight, alignment, and a practical action plan that fits your business and your life.

This isn’t just a one-off session, it’s a monthly cadence that keeps you anchored and accountable.

Because without regular check-ins, it’s easy to drift. Easy to stay busy but miss the signal for something deeper.

This isn’t about adding another thing to your plate, it’s about making sure what’s on your plate still makes sense.

If you know it’s time to stop drifting and get re-aligned.

If you want to lead your business with more clarity, more confidence, and a plan that actually supports the life you’re building.

Then this is your next move.
