Kia ora Reader, it's wonderful to be back in your inbox (although you probably didn't even notice my absence). The past couple of weeks have certainly offered a gentle reminder about the rhythm of life and business.
Here in Aotearoa, we recently observed Pūanga me Matariki – a significant time in the Māori calendar that acknowledges the Māori New Year. It’s a time for reflection, connection, and setting intentions for the year ahead, which also meant a shorter working week for many.
Navigating this important cultural observance, alongside a personal wellness moment, truly highlighted that even with the best intentions, sometimes embracing the natural flow and listening to your body is key.
My birthday also falls during Pūanga me Matariki, deepening the significance of this unique time of year. For me, a birthday has always been a natural marker to pause and reassess not just my personal goals and direction, but also where I'm steering my business.
It's a powerful prompt for me, and hopefully for you too, to take stock. Just as we look to the stars for guidance, mid-year offers an ideal opportunity to review our course, assess what's working, and strategically adjust our trajectory for the months ahead.
It's about bringing clarity and purpose to the next chapter of your business journey, ensuring you're truly steering towards your desired impact.
🧠 THINK (mindset shift)
For centuries, my ancestors navigated by the stars, using celestial wisdom not just to journey across oceans, but to guide planting, harvesting, and to express gratitude for the abundance in their lives.
This week, let's think about your business year through a similar lens. If the calendar year is your waka (canoe), how have you been navigating your journey so far?
💡 DO (practical action)
Just as Matariki marks a significant point in the Māori calendar, a time for reflection and planning, June offers a natural mid-year check-in for your business. If you haven't already stopped for a mid-year or new-financial-year review, now is the perfect time.
Take an hour this week to revisit your annual goals. What's working? What needs a course correction as we head deeper into Q3? What opportunities have emerged that you want to integrate into the next six months?
🚀 HAVE (expected results)
By taking this intentional pause to reflect and adjust, you'll gain clarity and renewed purpose. This isn't about perfection; it's about realigning your efforts, celebrating your progress, and setting yourself up for a powerful second half of the year, ensuring your business journey is one of purposeful, sustainable growth.
